is it possible to improve subtitle visibility in low resolutions?

I hardcode subtitles with VSFilter, Is it possible to improve subtitle visibility in video that have low resolution beside of font size? For example :

720 x 404p:

It would be nice that the quality of the above image on that low resolutions.

If you don't want to go through the whole OCR process, upscale the video, boost the font size in the soft subs, and then convert soft subs to hard subs, your best bet is some kind of AI upscaling.

I agree with Katie: your best bet is to OCR the subtitle, regenerate the video at high res, and then re-insert the result.

If the background is always black you can use binarize to improve quality. Some light antialiasing could also help so smooth the edges a bit.

Throw the soft subs into Aegisub and go to Subtitle-->Resample Resolution. Convert them to the resolution of the video you're trying to hardsub.

Hardsub after you've properly resized them.
