Someone sent me a copy ( copied by Nero) of an SVCD created by DVD2SVCD and burned with CDRWin. The copy plays just fine on my standalone Pioneer DVD player but is not recognized at all by my computer and Windows XP. Windows XP says it is an unrecognizable format and neither WINDvd or POWERDvd will play the disk. Here is the funny part - CloneCD, CDRwin or Nero will COPY the disk on my computer and the copy WILL PLAY on the Pioneer standalone but again - its format is not recognized by Windows XP.
Does anyone have any idea what could be the cause of this strange behavior of these disks?

imho it's not the discs that are strange, it's your pc (actually your OS/software settings).
to play the svcd on a computer you need a valid mpeg2 decoder. normally, windvd or powerdvd should do the trick. is your trial period expired?
to copy a cd, you need no codecs so it's no surprise this works fine.

check your dvd software, would you?

My DVD software ( WINdvd and POWERDvd ) work just fine with my own created SVCD's. I bought WinDVD - there is no expiration period. Even Windows XP won't recognize the disk. There is some other answer ? - I wish I knew what it was ?

I have a dual AMD. I have the exact same problem when using D2S The final disc will not play. The Muxed files that are created in the process, play fine. I use fireburner to burn the discs. I have XP and PowerDVDXP. It will also not play in mediaPlayer or ASUS DVD. It does play on my WinME machine with P4 and POWERDVDXP.
