Divx 4.12 vs Divx 5.0

Just from what I've heard so far it sounds like the typical market garbage we heard in the past. Much faster speeds than Div4.12 and of course it will offer superior quality;) I'm all choked up now:D

Honestly though I haven't heard anything that 5.0 will offer compared to 4.12. Guess we'll see real soon. I'm surprised that a beta or RC hasn't leaked out.

I think it'll be a full advanced simple profile codec. That is, it will have B-frame support (using a custom version of VirtualDub) and have proper interlacing support for encoding (MPEG2-style, none of this blurring crap). I doubt wavelets or sprite encoding have made their way in.

There is more room for speed increases, especially if they hire a professional code profiler / optimizer. Yes there are people who do that for a living :)
