Playing a movie from two disks simultaneously?

Just curiious to see if it is possible to burn the DivX video file to one 700MB CD-R and the ac3, MP3, or wav to another, place them in separate cd drives and watch the movie?

It sounds like it would work, but i donno...just a thought to increace the bitrate of both video and audio.

There will mostlikely be synch issues here too i bet, if anyone has tried it or knows anything about it....please let me know

I guess technically it would work. I myself have compared a divx file with the original source dvd by playing them both side by side on my computer (dvd from disc, avi from hd). It seemed to work fine, no skipping issues and such.

However, from experience, it is difficult to have two cd-rom drives operating at the same time, particuarly for watching a movie.

I suppose you could do it, but why?

You get more space for video by encoding on two discs and simply splitting the file anyway.

Consider, using your idea you would have up to 700 megs for the video portion, and 700 megs for the audio.

First, most movies, even with ac3 audio, don't use 700 megs for audio.

Second, by using two discs and splitting the movie, you are typically using around 500megs or so from each cd for the video. That's a total of over a gigabyte of space for the video.

Much higher quality than 700megs of space, huh?
