i have an ac3 avi file and want to extract the audio to a wav file for use with tmpgenc to convert to vcd.

i usually use virtualdub (version 1.4.7) to create a wav with a divx4 avi, but when i try to create a wav from the ac3 avi file i get this error message.....

"The requested audio compression is not compatible with the input format. Check that the sampling rate and channel count if the input match those of the requested format"

and then.....

"AVIOutputWAV: The handle is invalid"

i've downloaded the "nemo44" codec pack and installed, but still getting the error message.

i've scanned the doom9 guides and couldn't find one for avi ac3 to wav or mp3.

any help would be greatly appreciated :D

thx,
dave.

I have exactly the same error here trying to load a Divx avi file. Tried besweet to extract the audio as suggested but apparently besweet does not accept avi as input file.

You seem to be messing two things:
converting and extracting
If you want to extract audio from the avi file. use nandub for that.
It has Save WAV function. Later just rename the .wav to .mp3 and that's it.

thx for the advice, but i actually found another way.
i've dl'ed a prog called 'avi2svcd'. this does an all in 1 conversion - ac3 avi ---> mpeg-2 (which is what i was actually after doing, extracting the audio was just a step i didn't know how to do).
