DivXing with Linux

I am planning to switching my os to Linux. Is there a specific programs developed for Linux so i could do my DivX rips (DivX 4.12) with it or do I need to use some windows emulators and if i do, do they work? Allso what Linux distribution would suite my needs? RedHat? Mandrake?

transcode
