It has not quite been a year since the last poll but what the heck. Also, this poll might help out pinterf with his question posted here (https://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=1898459#post1898459) about who is still using XP.
Note: This is a multiple choice poll. Please select the Avisynth version(s) you're using and your main Operating System

XP currently got infinitely more users than 8.0/8.1 [2 vs 0], maybe we should keep XP Avs+, and drop W8.0/8.1 support.
I wonder what happened to Vista. :)
EDIT: Occasional test in pub on W10., tablet / laptop thingy. [Whch I'm using right now]

I wonder what happened to Vista.Vista is neither here nor there. There are several APIs in W7 (NT 6.1) that are not in Vista (NT 6.0).

OK, accepted, but which OS should people vote for, when using Vista [XP or W7] ?
EDIT: And dont say XP Media Center. [as much a con as Vista, ie 'Out-Of-Band' again ie, not supported! ]

Right now there are more 2.5.8 users (4) than 2.6.0 users (3). :scared:

On the XP Media Center, Vista thing, suggest NEVER, EVER, get M$ OS Product the day released,
give it time for them to say if it is "Out-Of-Band" or not. Me NEVER forgives M$ for Vista.
After setup, booted about 12 times, £160.00 worth of total crap. [actually launched on Saturdat, bought on Monday].
[EDIT: Was XP Update to Vista £160.00, me went back to XP, less state of the art Artifical Stupidity included]

[EDIT: Was XP Update to Vista £160.00, me went back to XP, less state of the art Artifical Stupidity included]Vista isn't the only Windows Turkey:
Windows 1.0: vaporware
Windows 2.0: almost unusable
Windows ME: pointless
Windows Vista: a step backwards
Window 8.0: a lot of uneeded changes, just for the tablet features
Windows 10: all about controlling your computer and monitoring your behavior. I'm not a fan.
XP was, by far, the best. Windows 7 is OK, although they replaced a lot of the UI and made things like file management a LOT more difficult.

Nah, 2000 was best.[EDIT: but without BDA Broacast, something Arcitecture]
EDIT: Probably Driver.
EDIT: Did away with dedicated hardware implementer required drivers, non specific drivers were the norm. [XP]
EDIT: Currently just as many use XP as W7, (W10 dont really count, nah really).
Maybe the drop of XP is as yet, premature.
EDIT: Me is guessin that the same v2.58 users, is still the same v2.58 users, from long time since,
they be total hardcore 2.58 gadgies.

Can you clarify your spelling in your reply before I post more about this because from my limited internet searching and my poor use of enflish language it looks like an insult.

"Gadgie", Scots, or Geordie [North East England] usually.
GADGIE n. a boy, a man
https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/hardcore
hardcore (comparative more hardcore, superlative most hardcore)
Adjective
Having an extreme dedication to a certain activity; diehard.
He's a hardcore gamer.
so means "Devout Avs v2.58 users".
[Me guessin that you is mixing up 'hardcore porn', or something]

I mainly saw the second meaning.

I have never heard of that interpretation [and I actually question its authenticity], I also saw some references to Gypsies
in some definitions, and again, I have never any experience of that meaning either [I'm from North East England].
A Gadgie, is just a Guy/Fellow/Bloke/Man. [EDIT: Not usually a Boy, where I am from, mainly Man]
EDIT: The 2nd meaning
(Scotland, especially Dundee, derogatory) A person who is poorly educated and engages in hooliganism,
petty criminality or loutish behaviour. This usage sometimes carries the connotation of youth.
EDIT: You quite often heard the term in "Auf Wiedersehen, Pet":- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Auf_Wiedersehen,_Pet
TV series about a group of builders [mostly Geordies, North East England] working in Germany.
Oz [actor/singer/Ex shipyard Welder, Jimmy Nail] was the character most likely to use the word "Gadgie".
I think Sting [singer/actor] used it in a movie he was in, maybe "Stormy Monday", set in the North East [where he is from].
EDIT: My mate[EDIT: Friend] had an Extra part in "Stormy Monday", but ended up on the cutting room floor.

Nostalgia....
I am running Windows 10 to be able to have the fastest processors running. AVS+. I am very happy to use 64bit to be able to process 4K Material and 32 gigs of memory. Memory consumption in parallel modes with 4K is crazy with AVS.
The "control your computer" issue I solved by undermining the automatic update features and: My computer has no access to the internet. Simple and effective. Internet only runs in a virtual machine (of course not the one from Bill).
I am pretty happy.

XP was, by far, the best.
It sure was.
I voted for Windows XP - Avisynth+ x86.
I do have Windows 10 at work, while at home I have Fedora (Linux) + XP which I use for pretty much everything as long as it's not work-related.

Why would anyone use anything different than AviSynth+/VaporSynth?
My choices:
64-bit AviSynth+
OS: Windows 10 Home (although I don't like that it's almost spyware).

Is DebugMode FrameServer any good, anybody ever tried it ?
EDIT: https://www.videohelp.com/software/Debugmode-FrameServer
Arh, its a Plugin for NLE's, thought it was similar to Avisynth
Debugmode FrameServer is a plugin which will allow NLEs to do FrameServing and AudioServing.
It supports Sony Vegas, Adobe Premiere 6 and above, Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe Premiere Elements,
Ulead MediaStudio Pro, Ulead VideoStudio, Pure Motion EditStudio.
If you use Vegas Pro 13+: Get Frameserver 2.15. If you use 64-bit versions use version Frameserver 3.0.
All features
* Free for both personal and commercial use.
* Send audio/video data from your NLE to another application without doing a full render (saves disk space and time).
* Can serve video in 3 formats, RGB, ARGB or YUY2 (YUY2 works only if the target application can accept direct YUY2 data,
like CCE 2.67. When serving from Adobe Premiere Pro, if the project elements are all in YUV then using YUY2 gives better
quality than RGB serving because it saves two colourspace conversions)
* Can serve audio directly to the target app, or can write the audio to the AVI file for better compatibility (if the target app has issues with served audio).
* Export/save videos as Image Sequences (BMP, PNG, TIFF or JPEG formats)
* Frameserve between PCs over the network! Very useful if you have a farm of machines and a high speed network.
* Plugins available for major NLEs from Sony, Adobe, Ulead, Pure Motion... support for other apps on the way.
* No additional software to install/tune, very simple to install and use.
This version supports the following editing software.
Magix Vegas Pro - tested with Vegas 16.0
Adobe Premiere Pro - tested with CC 13.0 and Elements 17.0

Why would anyone use anything different than AviSynth+/VaporSynth?For example, there are some old C/C++ plugins that are not supported in AVS+.
