Need help!!! - Hangs during bbMPEG

I have now tried this twice. Everything is up and running. It gets to the bbMGEP step. It goes quite fast (with low CPU), until it gets to 74% complete (137839 of 186268 A/V units). Then the CPU goes to 100% and it just hangs. The first time I let it sit there and went to work - 12 hours later it's still sitting there. I restarted it and again it stopped at the same place. Interesting part is that the resulting mpg file is just about exactly 735 Megs (which I see is the "cut point". Any ideas?????


bbMPEG is just sitting there like is waiting for something. I can even click on the suspend button and it brings up the dialog box to resume. So it's not really "hung" but it is waiting for something.

Do not use Caps or exclamation points in your subject line to try to draw attention to yourself. Only the most amateur newbie would do so. If someone could edit the thread subject that would be great. The "!!!" are not to attract attention but are in fustration. I have been searching the net for a couple of hours now trying to find an answer. I am pulling out what is left of my hair.


Update - When it hangs - if I hit suspend and then click "No" for the resume and then "Ok" to close bbMPEG then DVD2SVCD gets focus back. It then starts the second "half" and runs bbMPEG again. End result is two mpg files. Shouldn't this happen automatically - or do you need to get involved?

Could you list your full system specs?
from your hardware to the operating system you are using, and what if anything you have runnin in the task bar while the process is going on...
also run this test here see if you can finish without any problems.

Hi,
My system is as follows

ABIT KT7A-Raid
Duron 700 (OC'ed to 800)
Windows 2000 SP2 (All current patches and most current 4in1 Via drivers)


Only things in system tray are ZoneAlarm and the Task Manager.




As far as the Prime test, I run it once in a while anyway to make sure that my OC'ing is working ok. I will run it again just to test. Late last night I decieded to restart the whole process but first going into the bois and loading the "defaults". So now the machine is no longer OC'ed. We will see how it goes this time. (I suffer from the "waiting for someone to press encode button" problem so CCE sat there all night doing nothing. Hopefully when I get home tonight I will have two CD images to burn.)

This beta version has fixed the issue with having to press the encode button. You will have to search around a bit to get the beta version, might fix some other issues you have had. lets us know if anything has changed!
