Let's say I have ripped, stripped, and all that to a DVD and have burned the files onto a blank DVD-R and it plays fine. If I wanted to use the VOB's on the hard drive again, would I need to still use a ripping program, or could I just copy the files?

can you explain in a little more detailed description what you wanna do?
I think you ripped a dvd and you want to copy it or you want to copy a ripped DVD. In case of ripp the stuff on your hd get vts`s and burn them again.

OK this is what I'm doing:

Backup of DVD The Toxic Avenger: I used DVD Decrypter, then IFOEdit to strip streams I didnt want. Used GET VTS button on the new IFO's. Burned to DVD-R using Nero. DVD plays fine. NOW I want to encode this movie using divx. Can I just copy those VOB files right off the DVD-r (since they have already been ripped and IFOedit has done its job), or do I need to rerip the DVD-R with DVD Decrypter?

you don't need to rip it again because it has been done already, just copy your files and convert it to divx.

Yeah redcarpet is right.
DVD Decryptor or smartripper is only useful to disable this DECSS protection normally you can copy them easily to your hardrive.
Enjoy your toxic avenger, thats really funny troma stuff!
