Blue-ray disc, another commercial stuff. Just when the dvd was about to conquer the market, they invented a new fucking format. And after, what are they going to invent ? Red-ray, black-ray, violet-ray, shit-ray, fuck-ray ......
Be aware, probably they will never reach to market, and if they so probably they will be just like video-tape BETA or laserdisk. What's your opinion ???

the only purpose of those discs is to store a longer movie.
since i was 4, movies have been 90min - 2hours.
it will be the same when i'm 400.

the public already doesn't want to pay $20 for a disc. it's too high.
for the studios to fill a 50gig disc, they would have to charge for it. this would increase the cost past the consumers price elasticity point.

maybe they'll put documentaries on them. Finally all of Seka's movies can fit on one dvd! Maybe they'll include a "nascar screen wiper" for your computer screen with the Seka disc. but i digress.

if they do adopt, it won't be for a very long time. blockbuster % of dvd's is increasing every day. more and more people are renting dvd's rather than videos. why would they mess with the format when they've spent soooooooo much money getting the public to use this dvd format?

OR they can increase the quality of the movie over the DVD's 720x480 limitations or whatever it is. That HQ-VHS format is like 1080x720. I'm not sure on any of that info so don't quote me.

It would be interested for soem superbits stuffe like Columbia DVDs.
I think it would be great to use for some series stuff like all Simpsons Episodes on one disc. But majors wouldn`t do that becuase there is more money to earn with selling more discs.
Example X Files one box 100 $ 6 seasons = 600 $.
