Hi

on Mpc-hc:

if i'm watching a movie with full hd resolution on a 4k monitor with 4k video card, and this movie is full size (taking up part of the screen) does it get full-hd upscaling to 4k?

Or does this upscaling only happen if I stretch the video to fill the entire screen?

I want to watch a full HD resolution video on a 4K monitor without using the upscaling feature in Mpc?
Just put the: video frame at normal size?

I use MPC-BE, which is similar to MPC-HC. Test the following:
Play a 1080p file and press Ctrl + J while you are using EVR custom as renderer. In the second last line you see videosize. Assuming you have a Desktop resolution of 3840x2160 play it in a small window and then doubleclick the screen. It will change according to the actual state. You can try different scalers (which does the upscaling for you). The setting is located in options->video in MPC-BE called Resizer.
For example you play in 50% screen width of 2160p, then the video will be shown as native 1920x1080p on your screen and no rezier will be used. But if you double click the screen in default settings of the player, it will stretch the video to fit the screen and the resizer is applied.

So if I use Full-hd video at its normal size, will I have no deterioration caused by upscaling on 4K resolution monitors?

What do you mean with deterioration caused by upscaling?

Really uncompressed files, are you sure? These will be very large files.
Download MediaInfo (https://mediaarea.net/download/binary/mediainfo-gui/19.07/MediaInfo_GUI_19.07_Windows_x64_WithoutInstaller.7z) and post a log here, so I can see the file specs.
Download MKVToolnix and create a short sample of your file but cutting out a small part that contains the noise that moves, or send me the link per pm.
I take a look and tell you if it is a file problem or a playing issue.

when I speak of upscaling deterioration I mean altering the image by upscaling.

I want to see full hd video with its original image quality.
without upscaling possible?

as for noise:
occurs in both Mpc and Vlc
must be the file, right?

I think it is the file, when it is also in VLC the same.

Why don't you like upscaling? I need the background, perhaps I can explain some things.

I do not like upscaling because it gives an embassy in the image.

The image is sharper without it.

Do you also notice this decrease in sharpness when using Full-hd upscaling to 4k?

I'm watching movies that I download on the internet with uncompressed Full-HD resolution
the image has a loud noise that moves all the time
is it a player problem or is it a movie file problem? Rule 6 violation. You can't talk about this stuff here. Reported.

It depends of the upscaler. Look for madVR in this forum, it has the best upscalers but it will consume time to get its full potential.

Is there any way to have Full-HD to 4K upscaling on MPC-HC without having too much setup difficulty as with madVR?

a shader or any other way?

a way to just turn on the feature and ready?

can my Geforce 960 video card handle?

Is the upscaling done on the TV itself sold in the market, through the use of their own players with the movie on USB, is of good quality?

thank you

You don‘t have to use madVR, but after some time it might be useful for your personal quality needs.

It feels you are quite new to this hobby, I think I can suggest some things that help you.

If you have a 4K screen, which is not true 4K because it is UHD 3840x2160 it is exactly double width and height of FullHD 1920x1080.
Already with stock settings the picture should look good.

My advice, please reset settings of your display and only finetune that you really know why you adjust that.

Watch a movie and look what annoys you. For example automatic refresh rate change is a really important feature of madVR for me. Just look at recent posts of me and you will find some info. Do some tests and let me if you need some more assistance. I live in bavaria and worked the hole day, have to get up early tomorrow for work. I am already in bed, I am writing this with my phone.

Hope this helps you, tomorrow more for you.
