View Full Version : New to QTGMC, Nothing but headache.

I have a Sony VAIO laptop with Windows 7 64 bit Intel Core2 Duo T9800 @ 2.93Ghz each, 5GB RAM. Not the greatest but it should be okay.
I installed Avisynth+ and loaded QTGMC and the required plugins, However I had some errors about certain plugins missing so I went ahead and loaded every plugin possible for QTGMC in the Plugins64+ folder.
I had VCOMP120.dll and libmmd.dll missing from my machine and I was able to fix that by installing Intel C++ Redistributables.
Now I'm getting error messages about lines 636 and 879 in the QTGMC:
Line 636: QTGMC_Interpolate( ediInput, InputType, EdiMode, NNSize, NNeurons, EdiQual, EdiMaxD, EdiThreads, bobbed, ChromaEdi )
Line 879: default( Fallback, Input.QTGMC_Bob( 0,0.5 ) )
The commend I'm using is:
AviSource("C:\Users\............file.avi")
QTGMC()
I posted in a lot of video forums and no one was able to help me.

Maybe try staxrip, it has qtgmc working for both avisynth+ x64 and vapoursynth x64.

First I suggest you use this tool to check your Avisynth installation and associated plugins:

Run the program, click "Save Info..." and post the created file.
Edit - Don't attach the file to a post, use pastebin.com or similar.

OK, everything seems to be in order. Install the AIO vcredist and try again.
Should you still have problems, run the script with AVSMeter (https://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=174797) and report any errors.

I don't see any error message, just the lines that produced the error. Which program do you use to load the script? Have you tried AVSMeter?

I'm just using avs file with text commend in it.
I removed the 64bit version and installed the 32 bit version but for whatever reason it always defaults to the 64bit location and returns error to load the video, so I guess I have to make the 64 bit version working.
Edit:
When I use QTGMC V3.358 I get an error about lines 879 and 636 but when I use QTGMC V3.357 I get an error about lines 862 and 620, Anyone from the developers team please?

The more applications I install the deeper the rabbit hole goes, I'm following the procedure outlined in Avisynth website, Type in a script save it with the extension .avs and open it with vdub, it can't be any easier than that.

Just run the script with AVSMeter.
To be honest with you I don't know how to use AVSMeter, I just want to get the damn thing running error free, besides it is not like I'm the first one to use avs files on vdub, It should be a reason why I'm getting those errors and I'm pretty sure it has something to do with QTGMC or the commend I'm using.

You need to run it with admin rights, C:\Program Files (x86) is not writable by user. Or just move avsmeter and the avs to a different folder, like C:\test\ and try again

Could you paste some lines around line 879 from QTGMC.avsi?
Illegal Instruction means that a plugin does not support your processor. Either there are multiple versions of that DLL and you chose the wrong one (e.g. the DLL was compiled for using a modern AVX2 instruction set but your processor is an older one which supports only SSE 4.1), or that specific DLL has a bug.

The culprit could be be either yadifmod2_avx2.dll or nnedi3.dll (or both).
So, remove both yadifmod2_avx2.dll and nnedi3.dll. Then, download jpsdr's nnedi3 (https://github.com/jpsdr/NNEDI3/releases) and use the DLL from the "x64\Release_W7" directory.

I'd say yadifmod2_avx2.dll is the culprit. Remove it and try again.
Is it somehow possible to check if a dll supports (or expects) a certain instruction like avx2? Like a minimum requirement?

Also, that disassembler has to support those instructions. However, knowing if the instruction set is a requirement or an option may be very difficult to figure out.

Avisynth or any plugin which implements differently optimized code path for different CPU architectures can contain any instruction set, still they won't crash. AVX2 code will not be chosen for an SSE4-only machine.

For example, using the "-QxCORE-AVX2" Intel compiler switch will/may generate AVX2 instructions. However, using the "QaXNNNN" version will also generate a IA32 code path.

Yep, there should be a minimum set which probably does not crash on 99.9% of computers used for video processing (which is now I think the level of SSE4.1 or so)

The culprit could be be either yadifmod2_avx2.dll or nnedi3.dll (or both).
So, remove both yadifmod2_avx2.dll and nnedi3.dll. Then, download jpsdr's nnedi3 (https://github.com/jpsdr/NNEDI3/releases) and use the DLL from the "x64\Release_W7" directory.

Ok, I removed avisynth from my computer and deleted all pluggings and I'm starting fresh, So let me know if anything goes wrong:
I first downloaded Avisynth+ r2772-MT, Then downloaded QTGMC v3.358s and put it in plugins64+ folder, After that I only downloaded the QTGMC core filters masktools2-v2.2.18, mvtools-2.7.41-with-depans, NNEDI3_v0_9_4_53, RgTools-0.97 and smdegrain.txt.
1- Masktools2-v2.2.18 has two options, with_dual_filter_signatures and normal x64, I chose normal x64 filter.
2- mvtools-2.7.41-with-depans has 3 filters in the x64 folder.
3- NNEDI3_v0_9_4_53 has a lot of folders in it so I picked up Release_Intel_W7_Core2_SSE4.2 folder - this seem to have solved the two lines error.
4- RgTools-0.97 has one x64 filter
5- Converted smdegrain.txt to smdegrain.avs in the default UTF-8 encoding (there are other options like ANSI)
I copied all the filters and put them in the C:\Program Files (x86)\AviSynth+\plugins64+ folder.
With this new install I'm getting an error message about line 437:
Line 437: planarClip = yuy2 ? clip.nonyuy2clipin(true) : clip

1. You really have trouble following instructions. I specifically wrote to pick the nnedi3.dll from the "Release_W7" directory. Your CPU does not support SSE4.2.
2. Scripts have to be saved in Ansi encoding, not UTF-8.
3. Again, for the umphteenth time, "Line 437: planarClip = yuy2 ? clip.nonyuy2clipin(true) : clip" is not an error message.

Yes I tried both release W7 and Release_Intel_W7_Core2_SSE4.2 and both gave the same error message about line 437. But I'm on release_W7 now and I changed the txt file to ANSI coding but still getting "not error" on Line 437.

What a horrible nightmare... :devil:
Since every different script version requires matching plugin versions, why did nobody so far come up with the idea to upload AIO packages for different target systems? Like one 64-bit version for AVS+ 64, one 32-bit version for AVS 2.60 and AVS+ 32, and (maybe) a basic version for Win XP and a non-SSE2 CPU?
For the latter use case I do have an AIO package available (even Katie B. liked it), here is the link:

It is 32-bit only, so don't bother installing AVS+ 64. Just make sure that your VC++ redistributables are installed and remove all duplicate plugins from your "AviSynth\Plugins" folder (that's mainly mvtools, masktools and RGTools and needi). After doing this my package "just works".
