Hi! How can I fix a slight synch problem within Maestro final compilation?

I already created a synch audio track for the .ac3 file along with the mpeg video file, but there's no synch actually... (ie. image appears first, sound matches after a few seconds).

THanks.

It's better that you fix your audio sync problem outside of Maestro with the original files. What are your original files?

i have the same problem. I am working with a .m1v(mpg2) video file and an ac3 audio track that i got from using flask mpeg with the lsx plugin. The movie is kiss of the dragon. When i use maestro to compile the movie the sync is off slightly on the last third of the movie. I tried right clicking the audio in maestro and sync it, but is still off. I dont remember there being a audio delay for the ac3 stream on the original. It's weired that it doesnt do this on all movies only some.

There's NO better way to sync DD/PCM audio than Maestro !

Ok, here's the howto:

1) Audio is delayed by x ms, means Audio is behind video
- all you have to do is delay video, how...
- at the beginning of the video track you add a blank (black) still picture (put a .bmp in front of the video in the timeline)
- this blank has to be same resolution as the video (say 720x480 for NTSC, 720x576 for PAL e.g.)
- the still will be expanded to the length of a GOP (by default Maestro stretches it to 15 frames lenght)
- now, go zoom the timeline down to 1 (one) frame display (the minimum possible)
- place video (if you don't have done that already ;-)
- place audio
- do the following math:
* my audio is behind by 127ms
* video is 1 GOP = 15 frames + 1 frame equals 40ms (PAL 1/25fps)
* still frame at the beginning expands video by 15 x 40ms = 600ms
* audio delay = 600ms - 127ms = 473ms ~> 12 frames
- grab audio with the mouse and shift it to the right to get a delay from the beginning by approx. 12 frames

2) Video is behind audio
- easy, zoom down timeline and shift your audio to the right (delay it), how much, ok, use some calculation from above

Believe me you'll find it in absolute synch.

what do you do if dont know how much the audio delay is? Do you just do trial and error?

mikeathome, You could have easily mentioned your method without insulting others. Believe me it’s possible to do it without insulting! I don’t see how when I have a movie in 3 files and file 3 is out of sync, adding black frames to part 3 will help!

Hi,

why is a word like bullshit insulting one ??? Can't follow that, there was NO direct language in my post not even directly adressed just valued A PROCEDURE (... outsite Maestro).

Ok, anyway, to your questions.

@Atlantis:
What I would recommend in this specific case with the three parts where part three is out of sync.
- sync align them all individually
- you need to create a 473ms (coming back to my example from above with 127ms delay @ PAL) silence DD (AC3) stream of same format as all the others
- the black stills will be converted to a m2v by Maestro (it creates a folder with converted .bmps)
- insert the converted and create a new synch audio track by merging your 473ms silence with the other
- save the video as NEW VIDEO file (now including the black frames in synch with the NEW created audio)
- make a new project/movie
- put your parts again on the timeline (just the video)
- I guess you dont like ther black frames, don't you ?
- so cut them off again from this part
- now have Maestro AGAIN create a synch audio track

I beg with you if you have synched them in the first run exact, the second synch run will synch them again but now w/o the black bars.

Sounds a bit complicated, well, it depends on the length of the parts. If it is only a few seconds, it's horrible fast, so a try and error is possible (which answers your question benf2, yes sometimes try and error, play arround with short parts from the movie, cut off huge parts from the end till a scene with a door closing or something like that).

Ok, last but not least to ANYBODY who might feel insulted, sorry I am an old-grey-haired-bastard-from-germany-who-does-not-care-about-thin-skin-ladies:p. Get yourself a thick shell when hanging arround in boards like this, everything else is BS :D:D:D.

Hi,

forgot something.

If your Video and Audio has Timecodes, a simple Synch Audio will do no hasle with still frames and silence. Just give it a try. LoR can be fixed that way. See LoR post.
