I have some footage that is interlaced, but in a temporally linear fashion: meaning that the two fields are completely the same repeated frame, just half of it.
Usually, with most interlaced footage, the fields are captured at two different time intervals, essentially making quasi 60fps footage.
This can be recreated for progressive sources using something like YADIF x2 or QTGMC, aka frame doubling.
However, with this footage, there is no advantage; the frames are identical temporally. Frame doubling just makes two identical frames.
However, frame doubling is essentially not real, it uses temporal and spatial interpolation.
Technically discarding one of the fields here would be the wrong thing to do; id be losing some of the detail and replacing it with fake interpolated data.
What deinterlacer is best to be used in this situation? What will combine both fields into one frame that retains all of the spatial data? Essentially keeping the best resolution possible from the footage.
