svcd developing blocks

for some reason, i have had two svcds start to develope "blocks" in the video. before this the svcds had been playing fine. any ideas?

encoder: tmpg
video bitrate: vbr, min. 0, ave. 1750, max. 2520
audio bitrate: 224

dvd player: apex ad-1500

Its' more than likely the Apex player ..... goto VcdHelp.com and look up the user comments on the 1500 ..... most people complain of those 'same blocks'.

Try lowering your max bitrate... if you want to go the site that saab9001 spoke of, and make sure your max bitrate is not to high. Of if you dont wanna do that set you max bitrate to like 2496 or something similiar

tried to check website, but vcdhelp.com seems to be down. haven't been able to get on yet.

i thought about lowering my max bitrate, but the "blocks" seem to be in low motion scenes.

Does it develope the blocks in the same spot evertime? If so have you tried looking at the movie through your computer using Power DVD or Some other software dvd player? IF so does the blocks happen then?

the blocks DO seem to appear in the same spot everytime with the DVD player. the blocks DO NOT seem to appear when using WinDVD on my computer. if this helps, the two movies are final fantasy and the x-men.

Well it helps a bit, I mean it still sounds to me like your max bitrate it to high and i would lower it...good luck let us know if you figure it out.

i'll try lowering the max bitrate to 2500 or 2450. just curious, i've always used a min bitrate of 0, would to low of a bitrate cause problems?
