CCE waiting for encode button to be pressed

I know this problem/bug has been discussed in a couple of topics in a haphazzard way, but I feel it deserves it's own topic.

I occasionally get the problem where I start a conversion, and it proceeds along ripping the DVD, processing the audio and starts CCE, however the activation of the encoding never starts. It just sits there waiting for someone to press the "encode" button. If you do press Encode, it proceeds normally.

Some people have commented that switching users may be a factor. I do not use this facility, so it's not the cause of my problems.

Some people attribute this to the "version" of CCE 2.5 being used, but I have tried various ones and still get the problem.

The bug is also intermittant. It may happen 1 in 5 times, and I have no idea how to judge when it's going to happen.

Perhaps a bit of a poll could be included in the thread to ascertain just how many of us get this issue occuring.

ok, im a dork for replying to my own thread, but I just a thought (and this should be viewed as a remarkable thing :D :D :D)..

DVD2SVCD seems to be able to monitor the progress of CCE, so would it be possible to "check" if the encode has actually started, say, one minute after the message to "click the button" has been sent to CCE? If it has not started, then perhaps another "click the button" message could be sent...

I don't know if this would help, but it may be a start..

Er, why don't you just download the version in the TMPG thread in advanced. It is a sticky at the top. Let us know if that solves your problem.

No shit. Try THIS version on YOUR unique problewm which has 10 threads on it and let us know if YOUR problem goes away. GOT IT? This uses CCE also, your choice. And..PLEASE read the newbie post as well as the how ti make a post post from gerti

I have this happen to me too. Probably like 1 outta 10 times. Best I can recollect is I think I'm doing something with my computer at the time it switches. DVD2SVCD kinda warned us to be gentle when CCE starts. It's never happened to me when I've left my computer alone though and let it encode through the night. So I assume it's user interference.

Are you realy so dumb? That version is not just for tmpeg support. It has also some bugfixes (like all/any new versions). Between these bugfixes is this "press encode" issue:devil:

geez take a bex dude.. yes I have read a lot of the threads that mention this problem and none of them have offered much of a solution.. it is not MY unique problem, and I have never stated it as such.. personally I find it frustrating when issues are discussed in MULTIPLE threads, and it becomes more of a reference for people in the FUTURE when an issue can be contained all within one.

if you had been less obtuse and mentioned that it was fixed in the next beta release which could be found here then I would have gone and tried it ...

I hear ya buddy.. I tried the pre-release last night and the movie went right through successfully, which is great!.. Am doing another test at the moment to see if I can get 2 for 2.

ok, on the second movie I have tried, the new 1.0.7 build 7 pre-release 16 did NOT fix my 'waiting to encode' problems.

I am posting the log file here..

By the way - a VAF file of 37M was produced and a ENCODED_VIDEO_CCE_PAL.mpv file of 975M was produced.

I am stuck here.. I have no idea what is going on.

Hmmmm..


I have a feeling that my problems are due to CCE crashing mid-encode, and that the window that is being 'left up' after the crash is the original cce one, where the ENCODE button sits ..

I'm going to try and spend the weekend running Prime95 tests and see if I can get to the bottom of this...
