Deinterlacing upscaled interlaced video

Also any other ideas how to make this look better? It's a 720p and 29.97fps rip of a vhs that was recorded from PAL TV :confused:

You should try to get the original VHS rip... :devil:

The person who upscaled and reencoded this source had no idea what she/he was doing. Everyone should know by now that interlaced sources cannot be vertically resized just like progressive sources. And then you cannot reencode an interlaced source with encoder settings for progressive material. You either need to encode it with interlaced settings, or you deinterlace the source before reencoding.

IMO this sample clip is beyond repair...

BTW ZippyShare behaves quite well when using a decent ad blocker or a custom HOSTS file like this one:

You can get it back to PAL 25 fps with:tfm(display=false)
tdecimate(cycleR=1,cycle=6)
#AssumeFPS(25) # Use this if you want 25 fps instead of 24.975 fps.
That still leaves you with field blending. I think SRestore could help with that, but I always have to re-learn SRestore when I use it, and my quick attempt failed. Someone else will have to help with that.
