I'm getting this error message on random visits.

I have to refresh website few times to load correctly.
This ONLY happens on forum.doom9.org.

It seems to be happening after forum was down for few days.

Me got this too.

I did a search several days ago on this (after the D9 down time), and found a site saying it could happen if server was too busy,
but dont seem to be able to find same site again.

EDIT: Me on firefox 62, Win 7.

Does this still happen? I can't reproduce, not even with ancient Firefox version:

Also I haven't encountered any connection issues or "downtimes" lately, even though I visit the forum on a daily basis.

(BTW: If Firefox reports "Content Encoding Error", it is very well possible that is a symptom of the server being "too busy" and thus sending incomplete/corrupted data)

I also got a similar message from Chrome recently (error decoding response, or something like that). Its been happening on and off for the last few days. When it happens, it usually persists for an hour or so.

I week or two ago forum.doom9.org was down for 2-3 days. I was verifying my connection using http://www.isitdownrightnow.com/

Was down 8th Nov, came back up I think about 3 or 4 PM on the 9th (EDIT: GMT).
(dont seem to be any posts during that period, have not checked every forum).
EDIT: Was defo down by IsItUp.com.

EDIT: I did check the recent posts thing when it came back online, and there had been no posts for quite some time,
so it was not just me had probs.

EDIT: Around about that time, Avisynth Usage forum regularly had in the region of 160 visitors, not too common for this forum.

EDIT: I've had the "Content Encoding Error", about twice today.

And I noticed that the number of online users sometimes went up to more than 10000 in these days, 99% of those are guests.

Most users ever online was 17,583, 14th November 2018 at 16:58.

I guess this error happens when the server is overwhelmed by these "guests" (or bots).

EDIT: Got another error.

It happens to me too, just around 10 minutes ago or so on Firefox Quantum 63.0.1 (64-bit).

Yep, has been a little bit busier than usual, about 20 mins ago Avisynth Usage had 221 users online, (currently about 116), and the forum total
was about 9800, (currently about 6800).

Yep, I experienced a bit of downtime myself these days, but I thought they were doing maintenance or something, then I found this topic.

Whoops.. I've now checked and repaired the faulty db's (I think I got them all).
The reason for the long downtime was a 'dug-in-half-cable' to several blocks here at home, hopefully they NOW know where not to dig.

I'll check in again to see if things are ok but if not don't hesitate to PM me.

It just happened again for a few minutes, fwiw. Status also again shows over 9500 active users.

After my banning of two Chinese C-class networks things seems to have cooled down. We'll see if they return on some other IPs.
