Hi there,
Posting mostly for record/benefit to others, although some things are still unclear, but mostly I'm fine :)
So, following this page:
http://www.virtualdub.org/blog/pivot/entry.php?id=34
Attempted to load 20 frames, sized: 5184x3456 and save as n AVI..
Got this error:
x264vfw [warning]: frame MB size (324x216) > level limit (36864)
x264vfw [warning]: DPB size (4 frames, 279936 mbs) > level limit (2 frames, 184320 mbs)
x264vfw [error]: x264_encoder_open failed
Figured it wants size of 3240x2160 (based on error message), so reduced all images to: 3240 x 2160, then Ctrl-W (close video file), and loaded the reduced images as a sequence, this time it gave this error:
---------------------------
VirtualDub Error
---------------------------
Cannot start video compression:
An unknown error occurred (may be corrupt data).
(error code -100)
---------------------------
OK
---------------------------
x264vfw [error]: x264_encoder_open failed
Attempted other sizes, in the same fashion, and it kept failing as above.
Decided to CLOSE the VD2 interface, and launch a new one. BOOM, all resolutions up to 3240x2160 started withing fine!! Then kept working with 3240x2160; went to 30 sequence photos, then it started failing again, so trimmed back to 2400x1600, and all went OK even with 30+ images.
VD2 produced a ~14MB AVI (with an mp3 audio track).
Plays fine in Media Player Classic, BSPlayer.. However:
On VLC 2.2.x it shows only first FRAME, and plays audio until the end...
Upgraded to VLC 3.0.4, plays, but no audio and no video, just time bar progresses forward... I suspect VLC is not aware of this format, not sure..
Hopefully this helps someone :)
Stormy.
