View Full Version : How to Bypass Image Processing for Certain Resolutions

I've been racking my brain trying to figure out how to bypass MadVR's image processing for my Billy Lynn 4K mkv which was shot in 4K at 60fps. No matter what settings I try, this video constantly stutters and drops frames with my GeForce GTX 1080 SC card and AMD Ryzen 7 1800X Processor. I would have thought that this rig was powerful enough to handle 4K 60p until my next upgrade but it's not. I have a custom profile for this resolution also but can't get MadVR to not do any image enhancement at all and just "pass-through" the video as is. Is this even possible with MadVR or is there always video enhancement going on for whatever goes through it?

I'm using JRiver Media Center 24 by the way.

you can't avoid the chroma upsacling and RGB dithering or rounding this has to be done and with default setting it doesn't do more.

can you make a screen of your OSD control+j and post it here?

GT 1030 can run this encode smoothly with HDR-SDR conversion, there may be something else afoot, perhaps hardware decoding chain is broken...

OK, I must revise a little my previous post...as 24 fps encodes do run smoothly on LAV D3D11 chain, this one is almost completely frozen, it requires the DXVA2 option in LAV to play smoothly...I mean, it's night and day, I'm talkin 150-ish ms rendering time in DXVA11 vs 4 ms with DXVA2...

You need to select DXVA2 (Native) in LAV filters. Please do as @huhn advises. However it might not tell the whole story since, in my case, it was obvious DXVA11 decoding chain was in effect but decoding queue was like 1-8/8.

However, after maniacally and cluelessly switching LAV filters and decoding choices, I somehow, accidentally got my DXVA11 decoding performance back for Billy L. with LAV 0.73.0
