does anyone have a list of files that the Sonic DTS decoder installs (and maybe some useful registry entries? i had a partial HDD crash; i can probably SEE the files, i just don't know what all were associated with the program...

You don't need Sonic anymore.
Most recent version of eac3to has been updated to not need Sonic.
libdcadec is the default now.

eac3to v3.30 released
* libDcaDec is now default for all DTS tracks except XBR / low birate
You can even use FFMPEG just the same, as all DCAdec coding has moved to FFMPEG.

can it do DTS-MA? everything i'm reading is that it only decodes the lossy DTS Core

libDcaDec can fully decode DTS-HD MA, not just the lossy core. The further developed version in ffmpeg can even decode DTS Express.

are you sure? i compressed what i think is the DTS-MA track as well as what i'm sure is the DTS Core track (and recompressed with FLAC level 8 as i had no idea what level eac3to was using) and they ended up within 400KBytes of each other (268.4 vs 268.8MB)

Yes, we are sure.
The lossless decode and the lossy decode can be with the same size, one exact and other not.
Much more after a -downstereo -down16.
Also the spectrograph don't say nothing.
I make many test encoding sources with DTS Master Audio and obtaining bitexact decodes with libdcadec, even better than using ArcSoft decoder with some bit rounding unexact.
