converting mp3's to mpeg's

Is there anyway to convert a mp3 to a mpeg? The reason i'm asking is b/c my DVD player won't play a burned cd, but it "says" that it will play DVD/CD/VCD's. I was wondering if i could burn a VCD (which program) with the mp3's converted to a mpeg with a black screen? Please, let me know if there is a way to do it.

Yes, if you mean is there a way to convert
MPEG-1 layer 3 sound (mp3) to MPEG-1 layer 2 ('mpeg').
Use toolame or TMPGenc. Quality won't be great, you've been warned.

this won't do you much good if your player doesn't read cdr's. check vcdhelp.com if you're not sure.

doesnt matter if you put a black screen, vcd specs will give always a bitrate of 140k/s to the video, and 28k/s to the audio

but maybe your dvd could read some other format...pcm maybe??

The problem with standalone dvd players not playing cd-r has nothing to do with data format. (x)SVCD are CD-ROM formats.

It has everything to do with the laser in the player. CD-Rs are different than manufactured cd-rom, and are often the "wrong" color for the laser. CD-RW is often a "closer color" to manufactured CD-ROM. That's why, on www.vcdhelp.com, you'll see comments from people on different brand names of cd-rw they've tried.
