windvd registered + multichannel dshow filter

Did anybody manage to make registered windvd 3.x work with its audio directshow filter (iviaudio.ax) in proper multichannel mode (4 or 6 speakers)?

I noticed the following: When I install the trial version, the filter works like a charm (for divx+ac3 movies of course). DVD playback and stuff is limited. As soon as I register windvd (officialy), the filter cease to work in multichannel mode! DVD now does work like a charm, and dshow filter works only in plain stereo.

Hi there,

well is this possible that you didn't get the multichannel version of WinDVD. I'v got WinDVD 3.0 Pro running in Win2K with and Soundblaster Audigy and at least 4 channel seems to work for me. As I don't have the full speaker setup I never was able to check if true Dolby Digital 5.1 works.

I have the mchannel version and dvds work OK. But, after the registration process I lose the ability to use directshow filter (iviaudio.ax) with mchannel options. Before the registration directshow filter work properly.

So, I guess it's a very tough question. :) Never mind...

I have the same problem, I can only select either 2 spkr or SPDIF output when using WinDVD audio filter to play AVI/AC3, but can select six speaker output when playing normal DVD.

The problem is that SPDIF output to my Audigy Soundcard produces excellent sound but jerky video whether I use WinDVD/PowerDVD or AVI/AC3 where as with 6 speaker output the video is totally smooth and sound is OK.

When playing AVI/AC3 the four/six speaker options are greyed out

I really didn't get the point. So you say that you can play DVD in WinDVD and the 4 and 6 speaker things are available. But when it comes to playing AVI with AC3 soundtrack you cannot. Is this right?

I must admit that I didn't register at intervideo as my version is a retail one from the shop. So I guess it is registered. I didn't find any drawbacks yet. Well I should try playing AVI with AC3 sound. If you do so, does it make a difference which player you use, e.g. WinDVD or WMP?

Please explain that...

it doesnot make any difference.

In addition when playing an avi with mp3 audio using PowerDVD will simulate six speaker output which is quite impressive but of course the aspect ratio of the video incorrect.

Any one know how to build a graph in graph edit to get this to work but using a different video filter. All my attempts have failed.

You need to register the windvd filter(I think you already did). Afterwards, you need to install the trial version of windvd and then uninstall it. Somehow, I think a registry setting is enabled and this lets me continue to use audio with 4-6 speakers enabled.
