View Full Version : Previewing AVIsynth scripts with >8-bit color depth?

Normally I use VirtualDub (x86 or x64) to preview/visualize the output of my scripts. However, it can't handle 10-bit or 12-bit output from AVIsynth+. Is there some other similar software that can be used for previewing them?

I realize I can simply dither down to 8 bits for preview/visualization in VD and comment it out when encoding, but I'd prefer to avoid that.

Playback-wise, there's also ffplay and mpv (or anything else that uses FFmpeg's libs). Support for [most of] AviSynth+'s new pixel formats was added to libavformat in September 2016.

I use plain Avisynth to output in 16bit stacked or interleave and although VirtualDub doesn't preview it, I use AVSPmod (latest version) that does actually preview it. It displays it green at double resolution, but if you right click on the preview, it lets you choose the bitdepth and whether it's stacked or interleaved; once you choose the right one, you'll be able to preview it. ;)
