View Full Version : Error opening AC3 file on Maestro (and already SEARCHED for this...)

Hi!

After reading some past posts on this same issue, I still wonder why Maestro would not accept an AC3 file when I import it.

I ripped 2 different movies with SmartRipper 2.41. One worked flawlesly and after demuxing it I could import both video and audio onto Maestro, but for the second movie, I used SR again, same way, but when importing demuxed .AC3 file, I get the "Media Detection Error".

HOWEVER if I open the .AC3 file onto PowerDVD, it just plays fine!!

What's going on?

What can I do? I still keep the orignal .VOB files but as I read, no matter which ripper do I use...

OR WHAT??

Please!

Thanks!

I've had a similar problem with some movies. More than likely the *.ac3 files has some errors in it. The only work around I found for that was to either grab the other audio file "2 channel English" or decompress the *.ac3 to *.wav and re-compress it *.ac3 again with Sonic Foundry Soft Encode.

I do have Soft Encode. I know of VOB2AUDIO tool, but how do you get onto this without loosing the 5.1 channels or quality?

Hi,

I always have DVD2AVI demux the DD tracks and I never had any difficulties with that.

Menupath:
Audio/Track Nr./1
Audio/Channel Format/Auto Select
Audio/Dolby Digital/Demux All Tracks

HeadAC3 (DarkAvenger) has some AC3 editing functionality. So you may cut off the unwanted frames at the end. DL on doom9.

I DID use DVD2AVI to extract the AC3 file!

A curious note: I downloaded that tool called AC3 Delay, supposed to fix delays on AC3 files, and the curious thing is that it does NOT allow you to convert that problematic .AC3 file! I do have another in the hard drive, and that one could be transformed correctly (just trying out).

Finally, just want to note that PowerDVD DOES play this .AC3 file correctly.

So what else can I try?? I want to keep 5.1 intact and quality as well.

Thanks!

Try a utility tool called AC3FIX, it fixes errors in AC3 files.

Hi,

did you try to cut off frames with HeadAC3 from DarkAvenger. Try it.

I did try AC3Fix and no luck at all.

Looks like a header error actually, because Maestro reports the error right after importing the asset.

Regarding HeadAC3, where can I find it? How do I know which frames to cut?

Thanks!

Yahooooooo!!!

I fixed it!

Although program I used (AC3Fix) reported NO bad frames, it rewrote the .AC3 file in just 4 min, so I finally managed to import it onto maestro! ;)

Attached it's the FIXXXER file, I renamed it to .exe.zip.

Just rerename it back to .exe (it's the distro file, no damn virus!).
