Hi
It seems that my gpu only supports hybrid encoding

but even with that my system can't run 4k videos properly.( framerate issues)

and it applies to all sorts of 4k videos, which I threw at it.

Ive done all the required configs but it changes next to nothing!.
that being said, I'm wonder why dxva doesnt work with 4k hevc files but only with h.264 files.

this is the file info:
~removed~

And my specs:

core i7 6700hq 2.60 ghz

ram 8gb

nvidia gtx 960m

can I convert these kind of files to h.264 by handbrake software so that my system might be able to play 'em?

You can certainly re-encode them using handbrake. Your cpu is a skylake chip which has hardware decoding available, not sure if there is a way to use that instead of your nvidia gpu.

You should try playing the video in Powerdvd 17, MPC-BE, Vlc 3.0 beta and see if any of these can play the video smoothly.

I dont think either Skylake nor 960m has main10 support, it only has hw decoding for 8bit.

yep ure right!
I'd read it before
but the question is that do we have uhd movies released in 8-bit or not?
to my knowledge all pirated movies r in 10 bit supposedly.

My i7-4700MQ + geforce gt755M can play 4K hevc 8bit smoothly without hardware acceleration at all
