keep video interlaced after encoding

hey everyone, i'm trying to encode and clean up some old Simpsons dvds I have, I'm getting a decent result, ivtc doesnt seem to work properly, some frames remain interlaced, and some scenes remain entirely interlaced. QTGMC just blurs eveything, and minor details are completely erased. When playing the source file in MPC-HC however the deinterlacing used looks much much better than anything I tried in staxrip. So my question is can I clean up the file and encode it, but keep the interlacing for mpc hc or my tv to take care of, I tried just passing the file through staxrip without deinterlacing however it seems to become progressive and therefore it is no longer deinterlaced by mpc hc.

Animation does not have a regular interlacing pattern, so IVTC is difficult. Read the TFM documentation and search this forum for hints on how to get better results. You probably won't be able to get it perfect, however.

look out for animeivtc.

youshould check the source for pattern to make sure it is made for 24 hz or 30 HZ playback this is very important.
TIVTC can handle animations easily too but you need to tweak the settings for anime/cartoon.
this for example (24 hz):
tfm(mode=4 or 5)
tdecimate(mode=1)

i never found a anime file that is not fixable.

Post an untouched sample from the DVD. Cut it using DGIndex. No one should have to guess what you have and how to treat it.
