Please tell me how to delete my account. Lifelock has told me my username and pw have been exposed on the "dark web", whatever the heck that is.

Thanks, brothers

It's rather strange that you posted your message, just below an identical one... namely https://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=174863

or are you trying to infringe one rule and get banned :) :) :) ?

If your Doom9 password has been compromised, deleting your account now doesn't change anything at all. And, by no means, it makes your old password "safe" again!

The best you can do now is switching to a new randomly-generated password, and never use the old compromised password again, for anything. Needless to say, using the same password on multiple sites is an absolute no-go.

Anyhow, if you still want your account the be deleted, your account can be "banned" permanently right now. Deleting the account completely can only be done by the administrator...

I happen to use the same simple password for unimportant sites, could this lead to problems?

Like LoRd_MuldeR said: you can't un-leak anything. You have to assume they have your username, e-mail and password and access to the sites where you used the same data as here. Whether or not you want to go through the trouble of changing the passwords on those sites is entirely up to you.

Well, it means that if only one of those "unimportant" sites ever gets compromised (or someone figures out your "simple" password via brute-forcing), then your password for all of the "unimportant" sites is leaked at a single blow.

Could be a problem or not, depending on how "unimportant" those sites really are for you ;)

They are really unimportant but I have to admit one password I had to change today.
