Are there any other programs than cd-creator that can burn .CIF images?

No, but I have a solution for you.

Get the program called ISO buster from http://www.cdmediaworld.com/ and open your ISO in that program. You can then convert it to .BIN or .ISO. If you only have the choice of getting a BIN file and you don't have CDRwin, then get BIN to ISO converter from that same site.

Nope, there is NOTHING in that program to convert images. I have read the faq, and nowhere is there any convert image. In the menus there are greyed out options
to extract but the don't work. if possible, please tell me how to do it.

There are NO support for .CIF images in the program. All other image types is possible to extract but not CIF.
The only thing i can do is explore the image, nothing else.

I don't know about ISOBuster, but I'm pretty sure CDMage can convert a cif to bin/cue (though I think the cif has to be in EZCD 4 format, but it probably already is). Just open the cif in CDMage and choose File/Save as.

Nope. CDMage cant'c convert this one. get error messegae wrong fileformat.

The CIF's i am trying to convert are those created by I-Author. I *think* they are old
<3.5 version. I usually burn them in ecd3.5, but now i have a new recorder
not supported in 3.5 (plextor 40/12/40).

CDmage CAN convert ANY cif images to bin/cue files. Be sure to download the most new BETA version.

YES, the author of CDMage has released this Beta version to support the iAuthor created .cif images exactly for this reason. It's the only programm apart from EZCDCreator 3.5 & 4 which can handle those images. Even the new EZCDCreator Ver. 5 can't read them anymore.

But I read somewhere there may be a problem with the .cue file created (.bin/.cue). It holds the wrong sector format description (it should be xxxx bytes/sec; edited 02/19). Sorry, I don't remember, may be fixed already, be prepared for some hasle...

Are you kidding? The maximum is 2352 bytes/sector, and that's for CD-DA (regular audio CD). In CD-DA, each second takes 75 sectors so that would be 176400 bytes/second.

In standard (S)VCD format, according the the White Book standards, it is 2324bytes/sector which would be (according to the White Book standards, and not 75 sectors/second) 175872bytes/second (even though burning in 2324 bytes/sector allows only 174300 bytes/75 sectors).

Ok, I was wrong sorry (I shuffelt numbers).
I know this 2352 bytes/sec for CD-DA and VCD but with SVCD That's not all. In the mean time I searched my archives. Here comes the exact procedure to burn a CIF on a 90 (99) min CD-R with take advantage of the full length.

This is proven procedure!

1. Do a big image (>80 min) with iAuthor (there is a patch available which overcomes the iAuthor limit nag screen).

2. CDMage Ver. 1.021 Beta 4 (or newer) needed.

3. Open the .cif in CDMage, save as .cue & .bin. Set in 'Save Options/Convert':
- first Track: "S:01 T:01 Mode2/2336" to "Mode2/2352"

4. Burn with CDRWin.

No Videotrack is allowed to start after 80min when using this methode!

Thanks to Gandalf from the German DVDBoard, who developed that methode.
