Codec functionality visualization

Hi all!
I met a lot of wonderful pictures with visualization in articles about H264 on the web so I started wondering by which means such graphical explanation can be implemented. For example, images with dividing frame in blocks depending on area detailing or images with frame differences etc.
How can I achieve a similar result? Do you know some software or scripts for such purposes?
I attached a couple of images as an example

Try https://software.intel.com/en-us/intel-video-pro-analyzer it has a trial version which lets you analyze first 10 frames.

https://sourceforge.net/projects/fevh264/ :) It has a gui frontend hooked to a semi-decent baseline h.264 encoder.

Strange that no one has mentioned it yet, but ffmpeg has some functionality for this as well. See this page (https://trac.ffmpeg.org/wiki/Debug/MacroblocksAndMotionVectors).
