My MPC HC is version 1.7.0,.

I'm using rev3984 (I know it's old, but there are some feature that I like in this old version which I cannot find in the newer version) ffdshow video decoder and ffdshow audio processor as the internal filter. (To be honest, I don't understand at all what is the difference result between using the processor VS the decoder).

The monitor is a LED-TV which is only support AC3 5.1 Dolby Digital. I don't have a soundcard, only use the motherboard internal audio, using Intel(R) Display Audio driver.

My connection is like this :
Computer HDMI out ---> TV HDMI in ---> TV optical digital audio out ---> AVR optical digital audio in.

The output setting from the ffdshow audio is like this :

I made the setting like above, so I can use the Equalizer feature from ffdshow audio when I play AC3/DTS movie file in MPC HC.

Currently I have mkv movie which said is using Dolby TrueHD Atmos. Here is from the MediaInfo of the file :

Audio
ID : 2
Format: TrueHD
Codec ID: A_TRUEHD
Duration: 2h 11mn
Bit rate mode: Variable
Maximum bit rate: 8 736 Kbps
Channel(s) : 8 channels
Channel positions: Front: L C R, Side: L R, Back: L R, LFE
Sampling rate: 48.0 KHz
Compression mode: Lossless
Title:Mission.Impossible.Rogue.Nation.2015.1080p.BluRay.x264.TrueHD.7.1.Atmos-RARBG
Language: English
Default: Yes
Forced: No

A. Using the current output setting of ffdshow audio, MPC HC load the file but it's just stand still although the time on the right bottom of MPC HC shows 00:00:00/02:11:34. There is neither video nor audio playing.

B. I've tried to tick the Dolby TrueHD in the "Pass through (HDMI - S/Pdif)" section. With this setting, the video is playing - but there is no sound from the AVR speakers. It seems there is no signal outputted to the AVR via the optical digital audio out from the TV to optical digital audio in of the AVR. I'm guessing that is because TrueHD can not pass via optical cable, it must use HDMI.

To be honest, I don't try to make a connection like this :
Computer HDMI out ---> AVR HDMI in ---> AVR HDMI out ---> LED-TV HDMI in. Because my AVR doesn't support passthrough to the TV if the AVR is off/standby. This made me to have the AVR also on even if I only use the computer not for playing any audio/video file. (wasting my electricity :) ).

So, is it actually possible to play this TrueHD mkv file with all that I have which I mentioned above ?

I'm hoping the answer is yes. :)
So, if yes what do I have to do ?

If the answer is no, is there a freeware which can convert TrueHD 7.1 to AC3 5.1 ?
I've tried AVANTI, but it didn't encode with a message warning : [truehd @ 027057e0] major sync info header checksum error

[matroska, webm @ 02715aa0] Could not find codec parameters for stream 1 (Audio:
... truehd, 48000 Hz, 8 channels): unspecified sample format

Consider increasing the value for the 'analyzeduration' and 'probesize' options

Guessed Channel Layout for Input Stream #0.1 : 7.1

bla bla bla.....

Any kind of respond would be greatly appreciated.
Sorry for my broken English and too long post.
Thank you in advanced.
