I just bought my very first Blu-Ray burner, a Lite-On DH12B2SH. It's working fine, but I recently encountered an anomaly. Of 13 disks in a BD set, only one isn't recognized by the Lite-On. The laser's stepper motor keeps grinding and grinding until I eventually tire of the obscene noises and eject the disk. But there's nothing wrong with the disk because the BD player in my home entertainment system recognizes it, and I've watched nearly 90 minutes of content. The Lite-On drive was manufactured in February 2015 and the firmware is current.
Does this make any sense? I've never heard of a copy protection technology that makes Blu-Ray disks unrecognizable in Blu-Ray burners, but then I don't actively follow this stuff.
To reiterate, I'm not currently trying to watch the disk or rip the disk. I simply want to get the drive (and thus the OS) to recognize it and read the disk label.
BTW, the set in question is the European Batman series from 1966. Mine came from Italy, but apparently the only difference between European releases is the packaging. Season 2, disk 5 is the one giving me trouble. If anybody has this set, I'd be curious to know how far you get.
