Is it safe to assume modern hardware-based interlacers are better than yadif?

What are the Nvidia and AMD equivalents of DGBobIM (http://rationalqm.us/mine.html) (Intel)?

I doubt that hardware-based deinterlacers are much better than the software-based ones, simply because of the complexity hardware based ones drag along and the lack of demand for quality options. Also starting with h265 interlacing shouldn't be supported anyway (if I recall correctly) which doesn't help the demand in any way.

If anyone has put more time and research into this matter please prove me wrong, but I doubt many decent answers are going to come out of this.

for NVIDIA: DGDecomb GPU based deinterlacer is now included in DGdecodeNV.dll (the avisynth plugin), from same author.
A bobber is under development AFAIK.

Edit:
Why is yadif your golden standard, btw. ?

Well, I don't have much experience with deinterlacers.
yadif just because I thought it's still considered to be the best quality/performance balance. Should I be looking at something else, like QTGMC?

@BakaProxy
HW deinterlacers were created for old content which already exists, so new standards don't affect their usefulness.
Work was already invested in them in past years, and I suppose they may be more elaborate than old software ones, particular since they harness GPU processing power.

You should definitely be looking at qtgmc, yrs it's not blazingly fast as yadif but wuth sane settings you can get some decent fps out of it.

As for the hw deinterlacers, yeah if they updated stuff it would probably just be performance updates and minor interior tweaks. If there truly was something groundbreaking going on or if hw deinterlacers advanced so well, I can assure you this whole forum would be going crazy about it. But nothing worthwhile has happened to deinterlacers in the last couple of years.
