MPC - Occasional Stuttering/Choppy Video Lag

I remember having this problem a few years back, and I'm pretty sure I solved it at one point, but I've reinstalled the K-Lite pack so many times now that I have no way of remembering what I would have done at the time.

Every once in a while, the video playback in MPC slows down. The audio is fine.

In trying to troubleshoot this, should I only be looking at the internal options of MPC? Is it correct that the settings in the Codec Tweak Tool won't have any effect on the player?

Check your CPU usage when this happens. It is possible that your CPU or GPU is switching to a lower speed, due to overheating or due to powersaving on a laptop.

Uninstalling the K-Lite pack is also a good option, is there a reason you want to use it?

It is hard to know where you should be looking, it could be a setting almost anywhere. Are you using madVR? What kind of video are you having trouble with? Media Info reports might be informative for this info.
