Is it possible to improve badly encoded x264 movies?

By badly, I mean movies encoded with high deblocking values like 3:3 or 4:4, which is too blurry for my taste.

Are there any filters that can be used to make it seem as if these same blurry movies were encoded
with lower deblocking values like -2:-2 or -3:-3?

Irc, one can disable loop filter (deblocking) during playback.

Yes, but it can result in ugly artifacts because it's in-loop, i.e. the error propagates. If you think the picture is too blurry try a sharpening filter.
