Hello,
Im using madVR on MPC-HC. Very rarely on some videos I get these two horizontal lines through the screen. As far as I can tell it happens only with upscaled videos but not all upscaled videos.
It doesnt happen with EVR. Upscaling is set to DXVA2. It doesnt happen with Lanczos for example. Any idea how to fix it?
Here are two screenshots. It's quite hard to see, easier with moving image, you have to look carefully.

can you post a small sample and a screen with the OSD(control + j)?

looks like tearing. i don't get this problem when playing this file.
try a difference scaler that is not DXVa and what OS is used here?

Win 10 64bit
That's the thing. I don't want a different scaler. This one gives me best quality... I think its better than Lanczos... And better ones drop frames. :(((

can you least check if the problem disappears? what GPU is used BTW?

Yes, as I mentioned in my first post, Lanczos doesnt have it, I havent tried others. The GPU in use is integrated intel 4400. I also have an additional Nvidia but I cant get it to switch to that and disabling the integrated from bios is not allowed... Dell...

is this a laptop or a desktop PC or with other word is it using nvidia optimus?
if DXVA scaling is producing tearing in madVR and not in EVR (not EVR CP) than this looks like a madVR bug.

This is a laptop. Dont know what nvidia optimus is. How do I check?
After further testing I realized that the tearing appears at both EVR and EVR CP, and also at madVR DXVA and Lanczos, even Bilinear. Basically everywhere. Its just that DXVA gives the sharpest image and that makes it the most obvious. At the other settings its much more difficult to spot. What does this tell us? :)

I tried getting the resolution down to the resolution of the video so no scaling would be required. Tearing is still there.

i guess this comes down to optimus. so i can't help you there i never used a optimus system and i don't plan on doing it.
so someone with a optimus laptop could maybe help you changing the GPU i can't sorry.

I was able to switch the GPU to Nvidia however the tearing is still there... What could be the cause then...?

my guess is that both GPU are used at the same time.
try full screen exclusive mode and pray i don't know how to fix tearing on windows 10.

You don't have Vertical sync set to "Off" in Nvidia's control panel do you?
Optimus is very prone to issues. :(
Maybe there is some help in this thread: https://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=170937 ?

Exclusive mode didnt change anything. Yes Vsync is on. Anyway this doesnt look like classical tearing which Vsync would fix. This is always at the same place on the screen and its constant, only becomes invisible when there is no detail to point it out.

Hello,
After many months of testing I managed to fix the problem in a weird way.
By enabling black bar detection and setting 1 line of image borders to be cropped fixed it. Cropping one line from the black bars doesn't help.
Here are some screenshots that you can see:
No crop - http://i.imgur.com/uLCgY1m.jpg
Crop - http://i.imgur.com/5y9SQh8.jpg
There is simply 2 rows of pixels which are not displayed and the only way to make them appear is to crop the outside of the image.
I think this is a bug in MadVR, I don't see how it could be otherwise.
If somebody has a fix it would be cool. I prefer not to watch movies cropped even if it's just one pixel.
Thank you!

is DXVA scaling used with crop blackbars?
the problem is in EVR and madVR dxva scaling the source is clearly the GPU driver.

Yes, my monitor is a few pixels short of full HD and I downscale using DXVA2. When i switch to other downscaling it fixes the problem without using the crop black bar option. Don't know why I didn't find this sooner....... However the weird thing is that if I play it on my full HD laptop monitor where no scaling would be required it still looses those two rows of pixels. I tried switching to other up and down scaling options but it has no effect. Ideas?
PS: Why does Nvidia latest official driver suck so hard?
PPS: Actually on my 1080p monitor it seems to be upscaling it. If I set upsacling to something other than DXVA its good. Weird because both source and monitor are the same resolution 1920 wide, the source is however smaller in height...
