View Full Version : PotPlayer and madVR

A probably very noobish question, but might be of use to others, so...
I am testing the RGB 4:4:4 availability to my video chain through the use of Madshi's image:
http://madshi.net/madVR/ChromaRes.png
All fine if I read it through the browser, and if I play it through MPC-HC with LAV as decoder and madVR as renderer.
The issue comes with PotPlayer, all other variables - both software and hardware - being equals: I just get a YV12 4.2.0 image....
My obvious conclusion is that there's something wrong in my PotPlayer settings, which could even prevent me from using madVR correctly...but where?
From the comparison with MPC-HC I couldn't figure out.
Any idea?
Thanks in advance!

Disable internal video processing filters. (http://forum.videohelp.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=25449&d=1401498661)

Is your TV the exact same resolution of the image? If not, madVR will be scaling the image and as such make the image useless. Is madVR SuperSampling? Again image will be useless via madVR... This image is ONLY useful when viewed in a lossless state (in MSPaint for example) and at a 1:1 pixel mapping with the display. In my case with a 1024x768 display, I just open the image in MSPaint and leave at 100% Zoom.

The TV is a 4k set at native resolution, I've 1:1 pixel mapping, 100% zoom.
Moreover madVR works perfectly (like Paint, or any browser) from within MPC-HC.
It's just from within Potplayer that I've the problem.(that remains intact with other renderers, as the previous test showed).

make a screen from the madVR OSD.

make a screen from the madVR OSD.
You'll have two: one for PotPlayer->madVR (where if my memory holds it mentions YV12 at 4:2:0) and the other one for MPC-HC->madVR (where it states Y410 at 4:4:4).
But later today as unfortunately I'm travelling around today...
Thank you!

well i don't need them anymore i need the filter list now.
this sounds like potplayer is as bad in displaying images as following the GPL.

Not sure the filter list will help: if I exclude the internal processing filters - as suggested by sheppaul in his first answer - I don't get anything different...
More generally, though, I have LAV splitter source, LAV source, LAV Video decoder and LAV Audio decoder set as external filters, Ffdshaw raw set as blocked.
Will be more precise by the end of the day.
What puzzles me is that sheppaul doesn't reproduce the issue with his Potplayer: must be something in my player's setting that keeps me stuck.

Here you go.

I confirm the filters mentioned above.

setting them as external filter doesn't mean they are used.

You upscaling to 2160p in potplayer but not in MPC-HC

Got it, finally.
Ffdshow raw filter set as blocked in the General filters rules was the culprit.
Somehow, it locked ffdshow as the obliged video codec for PNG......
I set it as blocked in the only profile where I needed it, and it solved.
Thank you all.
