EVR (Custom Presenter) Issues in MPC-BE

I had this problem in MPC-HC so switched to MPC-BE and after tinkering with every single possible setting combination, the only thing that worked was switching from EVR (Custom Presenter) to EVR.

When playing 720p/1080p .mkv files (TV shows and movies) there was significant stuttering (I believe referred to as frame dropping, although I'm not sure if that's correct in this case). Basically whenever the camera panned it looked choppy. No tearing so not a VSync issue, just stuttering.

Switching to EVR from EVR (Custom Presenter) solves the issue but then I lose some functionality/options that are available only in Custom Presenter. I tried playing the same files in VLC and there was also stuttering. I've also attempted downloading external LAV filters, latest nightly build, and trying that in MPC-BE to no avail.

Running Windows 7 x64 and latest MPC-BE (1.5.1 build 2332). I am running on a laptop from 2011 so I understand it's a bit old, however I have a good Core i3 with 8GB RAM and a dedicated Nvidia GPU, NVS 4200M with 1GB VRAM.

Is there any way I can run with Custom Presenter without stuttering or is my sh*t just too old? I didn't have this problem a year ago with the same type of files. Perhaps encoding standards have changed and my hardware is too old? I've tried a fresh Windows install and that didn't help either.

even the rendering of the seekbar windowed can be heavy for certain configurations and cause stuttering in edge cases, try to disable it.

In mode 1 you have windowed the lowest render overhead this can save some frames from being dropped on low resources either EVR Custom or EVR Native.

Also the new Playbar can cause issues on low resources disable it as well as the OSD Anti Aliasing.

The last is Fullscreen Exclusive CTRL+F enable it/CTRL+ENTER execute it/ ESC leave it, if that doesn't run drop free when not rendering anything ontop you can't do almost anything anymore on Windows under DirectX.

Then you need to entirely lower your OS overhead as well, first try to lower GPU Driver Overhead via the Driver configuration (most vendors give you setup options there, in the way of Render Quality options).

Also Instead of EVR Custom you could try EVR Sync when you get Sync issues that manifest through things like panning stutter, though it is very sensitive to latency (much higher then EVR Custom) and when resources are overall low it will be rather a bad choice and endup in not only stuttering but complete blackouts, worst case that blackout stays the entire time and doesn't recover once it happened.

Please explain, what is 3:2 judder?

PS- I installed MadVR and am playing all videos 100% trouble-free. Is there any reason why MadVR is smooth as butter and EVR Custom is all judder?

you are switching to the correct refreshrate (23p). you are using madVR smoothmotion or the graph is from a time with no problems what so ever and you don't care about 3:2 judder.

Enable VSync and make a new screenshot of the statistics.
