View Full Version : PotPlayer freezes when playing MKV with CUDA Decoder

Whenever I try to use NVIDIA CUDA/CUVID with PotPlayer, the file will start playing and then freeze after a second. Sound output stays for a few more seconds and then stops as well and I have to end the PotPlayer task in the Task Manager.

I tried this both with the built in PotP decoder and with LAV Video Decoder, both don't work.

My GPU is an NVIDIA GTX 680, using Windows 10.

I can get DXVA Native/Copy Back to work, is there a quality difference between using CUDA and DXVA?

Thanks

No quality difference. (Except under some combinations "native" with e.g. madvr. Use "copy-back" if you want to be safe.)

I'm using Native through LAV Video Decoder and madVR as the video renderer.

I wonder why it freezes, have you got a clue?

LAV author has said time and time again there are problems with CUVID and Windows 10 and he recommends DXVA2 copy-back. I don't know about PotPlayer.
