In the conversion tab of DVD2SVCD, there is a drop down selection for 16:9 or 4:3.

Which one should I select if I have a 2.35:1 aspect ratio on my DVD?

I always set it to 4:3 for the 2:53:1.

D2S should get it right without intervention.

Zur128:

If you were wanting to encode your movies to play back correctly on a 16:9 WS tv, you would select 16:9 (and i think you would have to tweak the avs file unless d2s does this automagically based on the chosen aspect ratio). For normal 4:3 TV usage, you should just let d2s select the aspect ratio for you (4:3).

Hello warthawg,

seems you misunderstood the aspect ratio settings (I know it is a bit confusing) ;) - The aspect ratio is for the source (the DVD you try to convert) and not for the destination (your TV set) - mainly. Only if you want an anamorphic 16:9 DVD to play correct on a 16:9 TV set you have to choose 4:3 for the aspect ratio. Otherwise let dvd2svcd make the choice. Read the following please (if not already done):

Just to complete the referenced thread, as it is now closed.
My 4:3 TV (Sony) allows to shrink (from fig B to fig A, as referenced here (http://home.iprimus.com.au/dnasongs/anamorphic.jpg)).
This way, I can encode for my future 16:9 TV and my actual 4:3 TV :D
Until I saw this post, I always asked myself why my TV had this option which is rather strange (for a 4:3 TV, you will more wait for an option to expand vertically the picture...)

Anyway, thanks for all those good infos, always a naviguate on this forum ;)
