I bought a Startech USB2HDCAP capture card. It came with an OEM version of Cyberlink Power Director 10.0. It was somewhat limited mostly the AAC audio did not convert well and I made a lot of coasters. I used to use a Canopus ADVC-100 and Windows movie maker. It worked good for what I wanted to do but it stop working.
So I bought Power Director 15.0 and it seemed to work with the file I captured from 10.0 but I found out later it would not capture onto the device. It just would not do it. After months of tech support messages. I ended up with a refund.
My goal is to capture video using the component video inputs from Dish DVR, Internet and BD player. I could use HDMI but at time HDCP is a problem. I like to record documentaries and archive them on a disc.
I figured out a way to capture video with 10.0 and produce it with 15.0. I would end up with a 12g BD file and would use BDRB to shrink it down to fit on a BD5 disc. First couple worked well but now I'm getting nothing but coasters. The picture quality is great and I can play the disc from the computer but the BD player see an "Unknown disc"
So any ideas are welcome. New software capture and or editing. Maybe a different editing technique.
