View Full Version : Contesting a strike

There is a discrepancy between the "Forum Rules" and the "FAQ" about the correct way to contest a strike...

From the "Rules" section:
In case of a suspension you can send a complaint to strikes at doom9 dot net. The email is only to be used in case of a suspension and you forfeit your right to an appeal if you use it to contest a regular strike not leading to a suspension.

From the "FAQ":
If you do not agree that a rule was violated, send a private message to Doom9 or an email to strikes at doom9 dot net (write this as an email address).

There is a major contradiction about when a strike can be contested by sending an email. Can it only be contested by email if a suspension has been issued, or can it be contested by email even if it is just a regular strike without a suspension?

Please make up your mind which is the required procedure and correct the "Rules" or the "FAQ" section accordingly.

And another request triggered by personal experience:
It would be nice if the mods or supermods or Mr. Doom9 himself would adhere to some time frame to decide about strikes which have been contested. I believe that it should be possible to make such decisions within 4 or maybe 6 weeks. Making a contestant wait for several months makes the whole procedure obsolete.

Maybe nobody pays much attention to strike contesting these days because there's far less need. I'd be keen to know how much the strike rate has dropped in recent times, just out of curiosity. ;)

The "ask a moderator" instructions for interpreting the forum rules could use some clarification in respect to how to ask a moderator. Via a post or PM etc. I asked about the current interpretation of a rule in a post once and earned myself a strike for discussing the rules.

Speaking of which..... is there somewhere to ask about a rule, because I'm not aware of another forum with a "don't ask what's best rule", interrupting every thread where someone asks "what's best" with a post instructing them not to ask what's best.....

Oh yes, I am quite sure that the strike rate has dropped tremendously on the very day when neuron2 resigned as a moderator... :D

Otherwise I do have the feeling that nobody really cares that much. The topic of this thread says:
If you have a suggestion for this forum/site then please post here and we will get back to you.

My post is now more than 2 weeks old and nobody has gotten back to me. I did contest a strike more than a month ago, and you can probably guess if I got an answer yet...

The mods obviously do not care, and Mr. Doom9 himself was not active in the forum in 2017 so far, and he only posted twice during the whole year of 2016.
