Annoying random questions for newbies

Hi,

I would strongly suggest to remove the random questions or ask different questions, as the answers are very unclear or hard to find out. You will get them like 80% wrong. Maybe it's spelling, but mostly I guess they are simply outdated.

Seriously, they are REALLY annoying. I don't want to know how many people gave up on them. This is not against bots, this is against new contributors. You better close down the registration. Horrible.

That might be the case but you also might be the only one. Couldn't find proof so far that people like this. Just found posts against it.

It's nice and easy to search a 500 pages thread not really knowing what to look for ("ndjamena likes random questions") with keywords like "guest" and "random question". No thanks.

I went over to the rationalqm forum a couple of days ago. I started one thread, ONE, asking what the different 48 -> 44.1 khz quality settings in DVD2AVI / DGIndex meant. My thread got deleted this morning and my account got erased for starting it.

I didn't realize that it was such a sensitive topic.

Katie Boundary, I feel sorry for you being mistreated by neuron2. Looks like he was a little bofh :devil:

But can we get back to topic, please?

1. The questions are full of typos (maybe the answers, too?)
2. The answers are not clear and unambiguous (which of the five moderators do you want me to answer? Is mpeg-3 a successor of mpeg-2, although it was never officially released?)
3. The right spelling for the answers is not clear (simplest example: Is a number spelled out or just wrote as number? Is it case-sensitive?)
4. Some are too technical in my eyes, that can be discussed
5. Some are pure harassment. To count all the 35+ subforums (not the categorys) absolutely makes no sense for filtering bots or filtering "not stupid" users. It only annoys and costs time.
6. Questions are not timeless and need to be updated, like asking for the forum version, moderators, categorys

Those may be not the only points, but I run out of time right now.
So please bring to mind what you actually want to reach by these questions and if they are counter-productive.

If it is against bots, you can ask simple questions everyone knows like "What is the colour of the sky?" or "How many legs does a dog have?"

If it is against "stupid humans" just let them solve an easy integral or something with a distinct answer. And not 10 times, but one to maximum three times.

Remember, you already have the five day suspension in addition.

I am surprised someone answered this chain of stupid questions?

1. I do not care of and never interested in the forum SW version. It simply has no relevance, unless, I guess here, one's a hacker.
2. about the MPEG-3, this was known and answered also in the working groups of MPEG committee, use the google search
3. 5 days are there to let the wannabe member search in peace for the answer, before posting a question. Most probably he's not hte first one to invent a problem :)
4. who's the mod/s? who cares? Be correct and you'll never ever find out :) :) :)

I'm not sure if you understood my point. Did you read the first post? Those are not my questions, I don't really want to know the answers (but thanks for the effort :) ). The questions come from this forum software.
The point is even if you are not stupid, you will get a lot of them wrong because of the issues I mentioned in my last post.

If you register new in this forum, you will have to answer random questions every time before you post something until you have a certain amount of posts.
