Hi all,

I came accross an issue with Scn 6.1.1 and DTS-HD at 192KHz audio.
The issue is that at some players at a specific part of the DTS-HD stream (at an actual chapter) the audio stops playing.
I tried to re-encode the whole stream or move the chapter to another I frame but I get the same problem.

I think it has something to do with the DTS-HD Smoothing when it exporting because I used the same audio and same chaptering at Scenarist 5.7 and it works great.

The project is very complicated so is there a way to export or open it from 5.7? It would save a looooot of time re-authoring it.

Also, what is that Smoothing it performs while exporting and is there a way to disable it?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

dts-HD smoothing (if I understand the setting you're using) is for multiangle or multi-segment, when you're connecting seamlessy different parts of a movie. The smoothing is used to avoid audio drops at connecting point. It should not be used if you've a single video file for a movie.
As for the export, with the project loaded, you can right-click on the project version in the solution explorer and choose "Project export".

Thanks mp3dom.
1. is there a way to disable the smoothing from inside Scenarist? I have'n seen an option like that.
2. yes, but that project will not work on a previous Scenarist version, i.e. 5.7. Will it?

Thanks,

The smoothing is inserted into the dts Encoder Suite, as a CSV with timecodes, while encoding the audio. Scenarist should not care about it, but I'm still on version 5.3.2, so maybe newer version added something. Where's that option in Scenarist?

Regarding the project export, I think that is the only choice available. It surely works on the opposite side (from older to newer) but never had the need to return to a previous versions.

Hi, SCN 6.1.1 seems to ignore the smoothing already performed in the DTS Encoder Suite and does one of it's own?!
I am saying that because it actually says while exporting 'performing DTS smoothing' or smth like that which it actually creates new dts files under 'Encode\DTS' folder it creates and there is no option to disable
That's definitely something 5.7 or previous versions did not do.
Maybe the problem exists on high KHz files like the ones (192) we used.

5.7.3 and 6.x surely uses new dts/Dolby libraries (to add support to Dolby Atmos and dts:X) so maybe they've changed something.
Have you tried to ask to Scenarist support directly?

Yes, we are waiting for a reply from Scenarist and DTS.
