View Full Version : Preview prior to burning?

Hi,
Is there a way to check to see, if after using BD Rebuilder, that the disc will play properly after burning? I've had a run of faulty Blu-ray discs and wasn't sure that the problem did not lie with the source. The problem has definitely been with the discs.

I first view it in PowerDVD and if it's good there I burn to BD-RW, and watch in standalone, then burn final if all is good.

Hi Low,
I haven't been able to figure out how to use PowerDVD to preview . To be clear, I'd like to emulate what would eventually be the burned disc.
I have PowerDVD 10 & 12 installed and can play the individual files but that's not my concern. Of course, a BD-RW would work for checking but that's not what I'd like to do.

I have PowerDVD 16 which works great with any kind of discs directly from harddrive. You could also try Total Media Theatre but they don't update it anymore.

@jimaker
Make an ISO of BD folders, mount and then play with software player.
It's as close you'll get to a burnt media.
Use ImgBurn for creating the ISO, mount with Virtual CloneDrive.
Both are free and excellent, I use them all the time.

Edit:
Of course the written above won't reveal a bad BD media.
(Forgot to mention there is an option in ImgBurn to "Verify" - Check if a disc is 100% readable.)
Stay with high quality media like Verbatim and keep burnspeeds down,
half of recommended max media burn speed and half of max Blu-ray burner speed.
Here's good Verbatim media:
BD-R-SL --> Verbat-IMe-000
BD-RE-SL --> Verbat-IM0-000
BD-R-DL --> Verbat-IMf-000
BD-RE-DL --> Verbat-MEI-T01
