PC Drive (DVD/Bluray) with good error correction

Hey guys,

I am looking for a good internal PC drive (Bluray/DVD) for Backing up DVD's. So there is no need for it to have writing capabilities although I think just "reading" drives are no longer manufactured.

My current drive (LG HL-DT-ST BH10LS38) seems to be very bad at reading my DVD's, I get alot of reading errors where "dummy sectors" are inserted by dvddecrypter (or with ripit4me). So my most important criteria would be very good error correction.

As all the fuzz seems to be about backing up Blurays, I sadly can not find any good recommendations for backing up DVD's.

Maybe anyone of you guys got a tip?

I always suggested LG burners for this task. I never used LG BD units for DVDs though, no BD units as a matter of fact - I like to use CDreaders for CDs, DVDreaders for DVDs and so on.

Have you considered upgrading the firmware?
