svcd chapters

i am using VCDEasy to add chapters to a dvd rip that i am creating into an SVCD. However, i am running into a problem determining the end nad start offset times. I need to somehow find a way to get the exact time in min.sec.miliseconds to get it exact. Anybody have any ideas as to how to get the timing??

It depends how your encoding, if all you have is your final .mpg you can make a .d2v file with dvd2avi and then use vfapi or avisynth to open it in vdub. This will let you get the exact length and also if you want you can adjust chapter times. I find they are always off if you just rip them from the .ifo file, it's a cumulative error that gets to 10+ seconds over a two hour movie. Of course this may just be due to my ripping method, but you may want to double check the chapters if your picky like me.

Of course if you already have an .avs or vfapi file that you used to encode you can just open that in vdub and find the correct spot(s).

As far as getting the time down to the millisecond you don't have to be that exact, because VCDeasy will round it to the nearest access point in the stream anyway. It's really not much more accurate than a tenth of a second or so.

(I attribute any mistakes in this post to the large amount of cold medicine I recently ingested.)
