What to use when 30-day trials have expired

If a DVD uses new enough encryption to defeat Smartripper, but I can't use DVDfab 9 or AnyDVD anymore because the 30-day trials have expired, and I can't just nuke the hard drive and reinstall everything to get another 30 days because I'm borrowing someone else's computer, what should I use?

Assume a normal DVD, not a Blu-ray.

Maybe you should just pay for the tools you use, instead of scrapping by on free trials. A lot of effort goes into making them.

In most Western countries using this kind of tools is illegal. The laws are slightly different in these countries (in Germany it is not illegal to own such a tool, but it is illegal to use it). In the US there is the so-called fair use provision, but it has never really been tested in the courts.

So if you will break the law anyways by using such a tool, why not take it one step further and "pirate the pirates"? At least for AnyDVD there is a perfectly working crack available. And you can be sure that RedFox will never sue you... :devil:

There is also PassKey Lite from DVDFab. It works like AnyDVD (a filter driver sitting in background). The Lite version does not handle all encryptions, but for DVD most protections are no problem.

You may though have to set it up before the timeout expires, as many such devices will disable future use once timed out (or even if they think you have been playing with the clock/date).
