I have at least 2 movies in divx format that have an audio in some form of ac3 encoding. I believe it to be ac3 encoding, because before installing the ac3 filters I could not get the audio to play while playing the divx movie. After installing the filters I can play the divx movie no problem. But with virtual dub 1.4.8 I look at the file info it says the audio is unknown (tag 2000). Whenever I try to save the audio to a wav file I get a corrupt file or virtual dub will say while trying to use full Processing mode to save the audio.
"The requested audio compression is not compatible with the input format. Check that the sampling rate and channel count of the input match those of the requested format."

I've tried both nano dub and virtual dub to attempt to save these wav's with no success. Tmpge will not accept the avi audio as valid. I've downloaded all the audio codexs I can find to no avail. I was wondering if anyone else has run into this problem or has found a solution.

virtualdub/nandub cannot decode ac3 audio. all you can do is set the audio to direct stream copy and save wav.
you will get an ac3 file, even if its called .wav.
then you can use a program (azid,or somethin) to convert the ac3 to wav or mp3.

So what you are saying even if it says save as wave. It is really an AC3 file and I can use besweet and its associated programs to convert to a wave. Ill give that a try right away thankyou :)

Zhnujm,

Thank you very much. That worked like a champ. Besweet with azid 1.7 changed that to a wav after renaming the original wav to .ac3 Thanks again I was pulling my hair out on that one for a couple of days. Thanks again! :D
