Do i need more b-frames? (x264's log )

Do i need more b-frames?
Correctly i use 3 b-frames

if i'm interpreting the log correctly than yes more b frames would be used if it would be possible.

that doesn't mean you need them.

Well, you allowed at most 3 consecutive B-Frames, and x264 decided to max that out in most cases (88.4%).

Therefore it is likely (though not guaranteed) that, if you allow more than 3 consecutive B-Frames, x264 is actually going to use more than 3 consecutive B-Frames in many cases.

So, do you "need" more B-Frames? Nope. But are more B-Frames going to improve compression efficiency in your case? Probably yes!

(I suggest that you allow 5 or 6 consecutive B-Frames. Allowing up to 16 consecutive B-Frames doesn't hurt either, but I rarely see x264 actually going much higher than 5 or 6)
